Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in my membership fee?

Your membership fee covers much more than just class access. It helps support:

  • Facility rental for our weekly meetings
  • Administrative supplies and printing costs
  • Background checks processing system
  • Insurance and safety infrastructure
  • Access to the calendar of events and the registration system
  • Oversight and planning by our volunteer leadership team

Please note: Individual classes may include additional supply or material fees, which are listed during class registration.

How do I register for classes?

Once your membership is approved and dues are processed, you are officially part of the cooperative! Please watch your inbox for our Registration Launch email. We finalize our enrichment schedule with care each semester, and as soon as classes are set, we will send you the link to browse and register your children. To honor our volunteers, Teachers and Leadership receive early registration access, with general membership registration following shortly after.

All registrations must be finalized by the posted deadlines, and payment is required to secure class placement.

Can I drop off my child?

No. The Purposeful Servants Co-op is not a drop-off program. A parent or legal guardian must be on campus at all times and actively involved in their assigned volunteer role during co-op hours. This helps maintain safety, build community, and model servant leadership. If there is a time that you need to send your child with another family, then you can sign a temporary guardianship form.

What ages do you serve?

We are a family-centered community offering nursery care and classes for children from birth through high school. While our nursery is available for the littlest ones, our formal class registration typically begins at age 3 and continues through age 18. Our offerings span a wide range of enrichment—including elective, academic, and performance-based classes. Depending on the class, students may have the opportunity to participate in homework, end-of-semester showcases, or specific group projects.

What kind of classes are offered?

Classes vary by semester depending on teacher interest and availability. Potential offerings include:

  • Core subjects like writing, science, and history
  • Creative electives like art, music, drama, and cooking
  • Performance groups such as music and dance
  • Hands-on opportunities like woodworking, gardening, homesteading, or STEM
  • Plus teen-led classes and student helper opportunities

A full list of upcoming classes will be posted before each registration cycle.

When and where does the co-op meet?

We are grateful to gather at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Fridays during our Fall and Spring semesters. Each 14-week term is designed with a intentional rhythm: weekly co-op days for enrichment and fellowship, monthly field trips to explore together, and a special end-of-semester showcase where students can celebrate their growth and achievements with their families.

What if my child has special needs?

At The Purposeful Servants, we believe every child is a gift, and we strive to create a welcoming environment for all families. Because we are a volunteer-led community, we ask that you share any special circumstances with us during the membership process. This allows us to walk alongside you and prayerfully explore how we can support your child within our current structure. While we may have limitations compared to professional programs, our heart is to work together with you to see your child flourish.

Do we need to be Christian to join?

Yes. The Purposeful Servants Cooperative is a Christ-centered community, and membership is open to families who affirm our Declaration of Faith and support our biblical mission.

Our goal is to cultivate a community where biblical values are celebrated in every class and activity. We ask that all member families agree to uphold our core beliefs and standards to help us maintain this vital unity. Furthermore, to honor the diverse church backgrounds within our co-op, we require that instruction remains focused on our shared biblical foundation rather than specific denominational doctrines or agendas.
